We spent the day learning about how Chinese New Year is celebrated.
Here are some of the facts the children found out:
“Chinese people clean their house and put up decorations.” Billy
“They make and put up lanterns.” Ayaan
“The lanterns show the brightness of Spring.” Manahill
“Chinese people have a meal with 8 or 9 courses.” Craig
“They give each other red money envelopes.” Kayla
“Chinese people believe red is a lucky colour.” Gabriella
“They write and give each other good luck messages.” Callie-Bell
“There is a big dragon parade with firecrackers.” Adam
We made our own Chinese dragons. Can you see what we used to make them?
We also learned how to say “Happy New Year” in Chinese by singing a song.
“Gung Hei Fat Choi!”
